Mike's trial practice emphasizes representing individuals and corporations in white collar criminal defense and complex commercial litigation. Mike has tried or been involved in cases before the trial and/or appellate courts at the federal or state level throughout the country. His accomplishments include acquittals at every level of government prosecution from municipal court to state court to federal court. Mike has extensive experience advising clients in corporate and regulatory compliance and leading corporate internal investigations. Mike is licensed to practice in Missouri and Kansas.Mike has been involved in representing individuals and companies in health care fraud and abuse related matters (civil and criminal) since 1992. Mike is one of only a few attorneys in Kansas City that have defended a physician through a trial in a fraud case involving physician billing.
Mike is a member of the American, Missouri, Kansas and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Associations. He is also a member of the National and Missouri Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mike is currently a member of the board of directors for the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. Mike received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Creighton University in 1982 and his J. D. Degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1988. Mr. Joyce has been in private practice in Kansas City since graduating from law school. He co-taught a course at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law School entitled "Criminal Sentencing-Law, Practice and Procedure" for five years. Mike was selected as one of Missouri's Super Lawyers for 2008.
